Background and Education

Jennie Colabatistto is a professional vocalist and voice teacher based out of Westchester, NY.

Jennie’s primary focus as an artist is in Jazz and Soul music. However, her vocal abilities and experience span multiple genres including blues, pop, RnB, and rock. Jennie has made a life long commitment to her craft, spending her youth training and performing in musicals, vocal competitions, and tours. Jennie studied at the Hartt School of Music in their BFA musical theatre program for a year before continuing her collegiate studies at Muhlenberg College in Pennsylvania.

After spending her formative years in Musical Theatre, Jennie began to develop her sound as a Jazz vocalist in college after joining June Thomas’ Jazz vocal studio at Muhlenberg College. Having limited exposure to Jazz growing up, she was immediately drawn to the music and felt it was where her voice belonged. She joined the Jazz Improv ensemble and became the lead singer for the Muhlenberg College Jazz Big Band. While studying, she began performing in bars and jazz competitions, as well as seeing as much live music as she could. In 2017, she won the Vocal Soloist Award in the PA Jazz Idol Competition, hosted by the PA Jazz Collective.

Professional Career

Beginning her professional career, Jennie moved back to NY and formed the Jennie Colabatistto Quartet, originally known as “Jennie’s Jazz Quartet.” The band also performs as a duo, trio, and quintet.

The band has been performing throughout the Hudson Valley, NY area in restaurants/bars, wineries, music venues, private events, and weddings. Most notably, the group has been performing monthly at Palaia Winery for the past two years and adored by fans, as one of the only Jazz bands at the venue. Jennie has been featured in the Hudson Valley Jazz Festival in 2019 and 2020, as well as the Shawangunk Wine Trail Event.

During the pandemic, the duo version of the group was asked to perform in the Highland Rotary Club’s Rotary’s Ribfest and Restaurant Revival. This was a virtual fundraiser in place of Hudson Valley Ribfest to help restaurants impacted by the pandemic.

Jennie started the band, performing classic Jazz standards. Since it’s origin, Jennie has expanded her sound into soul, blues, and pop, while keeping a jazz sensibility. She has also begun creating her own unique arrangements of covers.

Fans have enjoyed Jennie for her captivating soulful voice, passion, and genuine energy on stage.
